Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Michelle Marie Colon's passion for serving her community

From a very young age, Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Michelle Marie Colon developed a great passion for serving her community. This desire to help others has allowed her to volunteer with non-profit organizations such as CAP (Pediatric Cancer), Susan G. Komen (Breast Cancer), and Al Samaritan’s Purse International Relief. She has also worked in her local community by collaborating with “Taller Salud” and the Boys and Girls Club in her beloved town of Loíza.


Michelle founded CARE Empowerment Program, an organization that seeks to develop leaders through impactful community projects. Michelle's mission is to created and support future womyn leaders through acts of kindness and showing that we C.A.R.E. To this date, CARE has impacted a wide variety of demographics that include children, teenagers, women, and senior citizens from the municipalities of Bayamón, Guánica, Moca, Toa Alta, and Loíza.

"As a women of science I understand the importance of research, but also, the role of service, humanity, dignity and emotional support. Thanks to @centrocancermujer for making me part of their family. The prevention, treatment and education triage is a game changer in fight against cancer."

Michelle Marie Colón aspires to become an example to the youth in Puerto Rico and dreams of inspiring the new generation to be agents of change, reclaim spaces of visibility and representation, and bring the national spotlight to the island to showcase its diversity, resilience, and unique and beautiful charm.
